NHFT’s intergenerational land utilisation strategy, is to return as much of the Trust's lands back into a healthy native forest, in the meantime, it will be necessary to return, at least initially, a significant part of the forest into a second rotation, and third pine crop. The Trust is therefore implementing a mosaic approach as has been discussed at previous general meetings with the long-term goal to transition over time the forest lands from exotic pine to native species based on scientific evidence as to optimal land utilisation.
